I have not been feeling very sexy or confident lately. Plus I've been bored and restless with some aspects of my life and feeling like I need to do some things differently.
So I ran a 10K last weekend.
I have been following a 10K training plan for about 6 weeks, but I wasn't done with the whole schedule. I couldn't find any races later in the month so I figured "what the hell" I'll just sign up, run what I can and walk the rest.
It was a drizzly morning, a little chilly but not too bad. It was a Halloween themed race with lots of runners in costumes. Watching the clever costumes definitely helped me keep going. .
When I passed the 5 mile marker I knew I could run the whole thing. And I did. I ran every step. Every. Fucking. Step. Didn't walk once.
As you can probably tell, this is a big accomplishment for me! Knowing that I can do something challenging helps give me confidence that I can deal with tough situations. This gave me just the boost I needed.
Awesome job!
ReplyDeleteWay to go! You've never struck us as the type who'd walk away from a challenge!
ReplyDeleteImpressed!
ReplyDeleteLook at you go, nice work. Running a full 10K takes good legs, a better heart, and a strong mind. Well done lady. :)
ReplyDeleteGood for you!!! I'm running a 10 miler on Sunday and am *not* ready for it, I'm just hoping to survive without having to walk.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! That is a huge accomplishment when you can jump ahead of schedule and "just do it". Way to go :)
